Job Description

St. Barnabas Parish, a large parish located in Scarborough, is responsible for the Chaplaincy Ministry at University of Toronto Scarborough Campus. Reporting to the pastor, in order to support the growing pastoral initiatives on campus, we are seeking a full time Campus Chaplaincy Minister who will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of pastoral activities on the Campus of U of T.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and coordinate all activities associated with the Campus Ministry Initiative
  at UTSC.
• Serve as primary liaison for the UTSC Catholic Student Club.
• Coach, support and mentor volunteers to assist in a wide variety of activities
• Develop and lead retreats, faith sharing opportunities and formation events.
• Liaise with appropriate associations and groups on campus and within the Archdiocese of Toronto.
• Organize and promote campus events including but not limited to liturgies, retreats, faith sharing and discussion groups, Orientation Week, Club’s Week and Catholic Students Week.
• Keep track of interfaith association activities on campus and promote ecumenical and interfaith dialogue as appropriate.
• Ensure regular pastoral presence on campus and within the community.
• Create and maintain Catholic Student Club budget and act as signatory on club accounts
• Development and management of annual archdiocesan operating budget under direction of the Chaplain.
• Develop and maintain regular contact with university administration and UTSU executive.
• Membership in Canadian Catholic Campus Ministry and attendance at regional and
  national conferences.

General Requirements of the position

• University degree at the bachelor level (preferably in Theology or related field).
• 2-5 years’ experience (experience in campus ministry an asset).
• Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office and internet.
• Willing to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends.
• A person of deep and mature faith, well grounded in Catholic tradition, capable of strong presence to the student community and professional engagement with faculty, staff and
  diocesan partners.
• Ability to articulate and execute an integrated, comprehensive vision of campus ministry experience in community building, pastoral ministry, leadership development, faith
  formation, planning prayer and worship.A criminal background check will be required of the successful applicant.
