Job Description

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic School, located in Essex, Baltimore County is seeking dynamic candidates for the position of Director of Advancement. The Advancement Director will report to the President, and will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing those activities that will enhance enrollment and attract the necessary philanthropic support to provide sufficient resources to insure excellent educational programs and long-term viability of Mt. Carmel Catholic Schools.
Responsibilities:

• The Advancement Director oversees development activities directed toward alumni as well as parents, parents of graduates, grandparents, parishioners and friends of the school
• The Advancement Director provides direction and guidance in planning, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive development, alumni, recruitment and retention program
• The Advancement Director reports to the President of the school

Specific duties:

• Work with the president, principals, pastor and volunteers on major gift cultivation and solicitation efforts for on-going fund-raising activities and events. Work directly with and support the efforts of staff, parents, alumni, and other volunteers with respect to the School development and alumni programs
• Manage the day to day functions of the development, alumni and admissions office
• Coordinate the activities of annual giving, alumni programs, special events, research, donor relations, corporate and foundation relations and planned giving to ensure appropriate assignments of projects and adequate support for performance of duties
• Coordinate the activities of enrollment management, which include recruitment and retention
• Coordinate the marketing and communications, which include public relations, advertising, social media and web site
• Coordinate the development and submission of funding proposals to foundations and corporations
• Coordinate appropriate communications with all parts of the school community including religious, administration, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, parents of graduates, grandparents, parishioners, corporations, and foundations regarding the activities and progress of the development program
• Identify, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects
• Prepare and monitor the annual budget for the development and alumni office
• Work collaboratively with the School Board, especially the Development Committee, to develop short and long-term planning for development
• The President may assign other duties

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in enrollment management, development, sales, marketing, communication, and/or volunteer management.
• Experience in a parochial or not-for-profit environment preferred.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage volunteers, prospects, parents, grandparents, students, alumni, faculty and administrative staff.
• Exhibit and articulate vision and drive with an entrepreneurial spirit and be committed to embracing the mission of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Schools
