Mercy Hospital & Medical Center is seeking a Director of Mission & Spirituality to lead its Mission and Spirituality initiatives. The Director shares responsibility with the President/CEO in promoting, integrating and supporting the mission, vision and values throughout Mercy, and in particular, honoring the legacy of the sponsors. The Director oversees the mission functions at Mercy, including ministry formation, mission integration, spirituality at work, pastoral care, ethics and Catholic identity.

As a member of the Leadership Team, the Director collaborates in all aspects of fidelity to the mission in all operations (e.g. planning, policy making, leadership development, finance, quality, compliance and advocacy) in order to identity theological, ethical, and moral issues imbedded in day-to-day operations.

The Director assists executives, managers, physicians and staff in integrating the mission and values in their decisions and economically needy. The Director serves as a resource, provides education and raises values-based questions and concerns patient to organization decision-making and strategic direction-setting. The Director provides leadership for the Ethics Committee and Pastoral Care Program.

• Master’s Degree or equivalent in a related area, i.e., ethics, theology, spirituality, organizational development, pastoral care
• Progressive management experience; five years of health care mission-related experience is required
• Must have lived experience in the Catholic faith and knowledge of the Catholic tradition, the social teachings of the Catholic Church, and the history and values of the Sisters of Mercy.
• Knowledge of the Ethical and Religious Directives of Catholic Health Care
• Knowledge of clinical and business ethics and accountabilities to canon law
• Knowledge of contemporary healthcare issues and trends, as well as financial and compliance principles
• Strong communication, interpersonal, critical thinking and teaching skills
