Job Description

The Development Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Development Department. Specific responsibilities include:

• Manages the Development team and flow of Development Office activity.
• Attains the Development Department Goals.
• Assists the President in cultivating relationships and soliciting funds from major gift prospects.
• Assists the President with developing and implementing specific campaigns and goals.
• Identifies and manages the list of prospects and donors to bring them closer to the organization.
• Responsible for prospect research.
• Works with team in developing and implementing the annual appeals.
• Works with team in setting goals for the department and individuals. Performs annual reviews.
• Works with team member in coordinating contact between scholarship donors and
  students recipients.
• Works with team member in managing the donor database, ensuring that information on each contact is up-to-date.
• Works with team to coordinate the flow of all thank you notes/calls to donors and other expressions of gratitude.
• Works closely with the Corporate Work Study Director and Director of Job Acquisition to create programs that leverage work and donor relationships to maximize the benefits of jobs and donations to the school. Seeks opportunities for “cross-selling” individuals and organizations.
• Supports the Grant Writer’s efforts to raise funds from foundations and oversee
  the timely filing.
• Manages all events, including the annual President’s Circle, annual Gala and any small receptions held during the year at the homes/businesses of board and supporters, and other events as assigned.
• Coordinates all calling efforts, including calls for the annual fund and other events.
• Coordinates all donor or potential donor visits to NDCR
• Prepares reports for the Board of Directors. Attends Board meetings at the President’s request.
• Attends all meetings of the Development Committee of the Board of Directors.
• Delegates or attends all meetings of groups related to development efforts.
• Prepares agendas accordingly.
• Works closely with MarCom Director.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by the President.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:

• Demonstrate proven experience, success and knowledge of the full spectrum of development, including gift solicitations, stewardship, donor recognition, capital campaign, and administration
• Be passionate for the mission of NDCR
• Participate in school events
• Possess excellent social and organizational skills
• Serve as a high profile representative of the school in public settings
• Possess creative and entrepreneurial skills
• Possess required Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
• Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience at Director level/senior management
• Demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills
