The Diocese of Portland currently seeks a Director of Development to lead the diocese’s coordinated, integrated, donor-focused efforts which raise funds that enable the Catholic Church in Maine to do the work entrusted to it by the Lord. The director’s duties include but are not limited to: providing fundraising leadership and service to the bishop and his staff, parish clergy and lay leaders, Catholic school leaders, and individual Catholics; collaborating and coordinating with the development staffs of Catholic Charities Maine and the Catholic Foundation of Maine; supporting the bishop in his role relative to development and strategic planning; managing the annual Catholic Appeal; and planning and implementing development policy, donor stewardship, parish offertory and capital campaigns, office and systems management. The successful candidate will be an active member of the Roman Catholic Church, possess a minimum of ten years of development experience with proven success working on annual, major, and planned gifts, and thoroughly understand the components of building and managing a diversified funding base.
