Job Description

Saint Joseph Catholic Church, a 2,000+ family parish in Fayetteville, Arkansas is seeking a Director of Faith Formation (DRE).

The Director of Faith Formation is responsible for the ministry of catechesis for the entire parish including Sacramental preparation, overseeing programs for children, youth and adults. This individual leads the day to day operations of a 600+ plus student body Faith Formation program ranging from pre-school through ninth grade with a staff of two assistants/coordinators and over 100 volunteer catechists. This individual also works in close collaboration with school administration and teachers of Pre-K through 8th grade school, as well as with the parish Youth Minister, to ensure unified and faithful catechetical ministry. They are also a member of the parish Faith Formation Commission and the parish Liturgy Commission.

The candidate should be a practicing Catholic, strongly faithful to the magisterium of the Catholic Church. The candidate should have a degree in Religious Education/Catholic Theology or commensurate experience/training, a minimum of 3 years parish religious education or similar experience. They should have familiarity with principles and dimensions of catechist formation, children’s ministry, young adult ministry, as well as proven administrative skills including interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, management and supervision, budget preparation, and be a collaborative minister. Any knowledge of the Spanish language is a benefit.
