Job Description

• Music preparation for all parish liturgies, funerals, holy days, and all special and seasonal liturgies as needed.
• Rehearse and conduct parish choirs
• Schedule and manage all accompanists
• Assist in planning music for funerals by meeting with families/couples as needed
• Be available as needed to cover funerals or schedule musicians to assure coverage
• Prepare and train cantors for liturgical ministry
• Coordinate music planning and liturgical ritual with pastor and his delegate
• To be present where and when needed, ready to work as needed to meet responsibilities
• Recognize when situations require addition effort, and satisfy responsibilities in a timely manner
• Attend staff meetings and collaborate and communicate with fellow staff in programs, projects and activities
• Establish and adhere to annual planning goals and objectives
• Manage music budget and collaborate with finance council in preparing annual music budget
• Communicate Regularly with volunteers, parents, and staff on matters pertaining to liturgical music at SACC
• Participate in professional liturgical music associations and programs
• Includes other responsibilities identified (as needed) by the pastor or his delegate/supervisor

Job Qualifications

• Minimum of a BA in music
• Skilled at both piano and organ with ability to accompany
• Minimum of 3 years of parish experience in music and choral directing
• Knowledge and comfort with Gather II hymnal material
• Knowledge and appreciation of the Catholic faith and it’s musical traditions
• Strong computer skills
• Other responsibilities assigned by the pastor
