Job Description

Notre Dame High School is seeking a high energy Director of Technology to be a part of a dynamic technology team. The Director of Technology is a full-time, classified staff, administrative position that reports to the Principal and Vice Principals and works closely with the administration, faculty and staff. The desired candidate must have outstanding technology skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate with several constituencies. Notre Dame High School is a Holy Cross school, grades 9-12, that is one of the most highly respected Catholic, private secondary schools in southern California.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for teaching and learning technologies
• Administer and manage the Learning Management System, currently Blackboard Learn
• Administer and manage Student Information System with the Database Coordinator
• Coordinates all information systems to meet goals of technology-enhanced curricula, with the assistance of the Database Coordinator
• Oversee the design of faculty development programs including faculty workshops, seminars and online resources with the Educational Technology Specialist
• Provide leadership and support for parent engagement technology tools
• Provide leadership and support of student iPads program and other educational technology tools
• Provides direction in the application of technology as it relates to the school’s present and future needs
• Responsible for the Technology Plan and its impact on the technology capital and operating budgets
• Works with Administration to develop strategies, policies, budgets, and plans to establish a cost effective information technology department within the budget guidelines
• Chairs the Technology Plan Committee
• Responsible for the “E-rate ” application and follow thru process
• Responsible for updates, upgrades, and license renewals for the various school information systems, software, and applications
• Responsible for managing iPad policies and procedures including the oversight of the mobile management system
• Supervise members of the technology team
• Works in collaboration with Director of Technology, Infrastructure and Support

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Experience in an Educational Technology role
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Educational Technology or related field, Masters’ degree preferred
• High level of energy and passion for the mission of Notre Dame High School and the role of Educational Technology in that mission
• Demonstrated supervisory, administrative, interpersonal and leadership skills
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; and effectively present information to administration, students, parents, and the Board of Directors
• Candidates must have an understanding of the crucial role academic technologies play in secondary education
• Significant knowledge of and experience with current learning management systems and other instructional technologies, Blackboard Learn experience preferred
• Experience supporting and implementing iPads in an educational environment including the use of a mobile management system

• Valid driver’s license and occasional use of personal, insured vehicle for school purposes
• Lifting and carrying light weight equipment or boxes (10-25 lbs.); walking to various campus locations
• Sitting, operation of computers for lengthy periods of time.
• Occasional travel for seminars, workshops, continuing education, etc.
