Job Description

The High School Youth Coordinator shall:

• Adjust office schedule according to ministry demands maintaining a full-time status.
• Live an active Catholic lifestyle, always remaining in good standing with the Church.
• Teach parish youth the Catholic faith by example of word and action as a living witness to the faith.
• Report directly to the Faith Formation Director for duties and direction to ensure quality religious education, prayer and liturgical celebration opportunities for the parish youth grades 9-12.
• Take on other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

The high school youth coordinator’s duties include:

• Select catechetical material in accordance with Diocesan policy.
• Coordinate, implement and evaluate youth activities and programs.
• Communicate with parents of the youth the program goals and expectations.
• Plan and coordinate retreats, service activities and camp/retreat experiences.
• Develop leadership within the youth program.
• Invite, train, assess, support and motivate adult volunteers within the youth ministry department.
• Provide spiritual enrichment for core members through retreats and core meetings.
• Prepare and develop a department budget and stay within budget guidelines.
• Responsible for the welfare and safety of youth when away from the parish.
• Ensure fingerprinting, back ground checks and Safe Environment workshops are completed by all volunteers working with children and youth according to the Bishop’s Charter for the Protection of Young People.
• Attend ongoing youth ministry training (Diocesan).
• Attend youth ministry meetings (Diocesan).
• Organize and manage fundraising and funds for youth ministry events.
• Follow the guidelines of “Renewing the Vision” and the Life Teen youth ministry model.
• Be a presence to the Life Teen community at Mass.
• Prepare, plan and oversee weekly Life Nights.
• Communicate with the Faith Formation Director (schedules, plans, cooperative projects).
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and communicate to staff about youth ministry activities.
