The Board of Trustees is made up of a committed group of priests, business, and community and education leaders. We are looking for an exceptional person who would relish the challenge and
joys of leading the largest Catholic elementary school in Greater Boston. We are seeking a Regional Director that wants to work in a dynamic inner-city and Catholic environment, because they realize that they can positively affect the lives of thousands of children.

Minimum Requirements for the Regional Director of the Academy

Ideally the Regional Director has some experience as a catholic educator and is a practicing Catholic, who embodies and advances our most important mission and who can provide strategic vision,
leadership, and oversight to ensure we meet our Academy’s objectives.The Regional Director must be comfortable working closely with a 15 person Board of Trustees, the Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Boston, and with local parish priests to achieve the Academy’s objectives. She/He will also be able to work closely with the Principals to address opportunities or issues at the school level.

Our ideal candidate would have a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree and relevant experience in managing school environments at either the Principal/Headmaster level.

The overall responsibilities of the Regional Director of the Academy include but are not limited to:

• Ensuring SJPII’s mission and identity as a model for Catholic urban education –a school of high academic standards and strong Catholic faith formation welcoming students of all backgrounds to share in a community of Catholic values.
• Being the institutional leader both within the school, and in the larger Boston community by cultivating and building important constituency relationships including: parents, teachers,
  alumni, the Board of Trustees, pastors, neighbors, the business community, friends, and partners of the Academy.
• Envisioning, developing, and leading the strategic planning process for the school, including institutional long range planning in the areas of academics, financial resources, enrollment,
  marketing/communication, and development.
• Assuming major responsibility for the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of the leadership team, and approving the hiring of faculty and staff upon the recommendation of the Principals.
• Developing a budget for Board approval, and oversee the management of the annual budget, including supervising purchases, benefit packages, audit, licenses, leases, contracts, and
  auxiliary services.
• In conjunction with the board and director of development, play an important role in growing the development program, including cultivating/soliciting prospects, identifying funding needs,
  and participating in prospect meetings, where appropriate.
• Creating an Enrollment Management team to generate an enrollment model that optimizes tuition revenues and makes best use of the space and the personnel of the four campuses.
• Overseeing programs outside the academic day, including extended-day, after-school, and summer programs.
• Managing Board relationships and actively working with the Board leadership to build strength among the Trustees in key areas critical to the school’s success.
• Reporting regularly to the Board of Trustees on all areas of work at the academies as well as working with the Catholic Schools Office.

Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy is a four campus elementary schools serving students in the inner city of Boston and promoting a Catholic education centered on academic excellence. Our goal is to
help our students prepare for their futures, as young Christian men and women.

With 1,200 children located in school buildings across four campus sites, we are the largest, accredited Catholic, Pre-K through 8th grade school, in the Northeast. Approximately 30% of the students test-out and go onto a Boston exam school at the end of sixth grade and 99% of our eighth graders are accepted to the high-school of their choice when they graduate.

The school campuses are located in Dorchester and Mattapan and are managed by Principals, with the Regional Director of the Academy overseeing and leading their efforts. The Regional Director reports to the Board of Trustees and is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the key objectives of the
Academy are met. These objectives include providing leadership for the faculty and staff, achieving academic excellence targets, developing effective curriculum, growing the development program and student enrollment, and assuring the proper financial management of the Academy.

It is an unique and highly visible job within Greater Boston’s Catholic schools, as well as in Boston’s elementary educational community as a whole.
