The position of Sentinel Managing Editor exists to produce a high-quality, bi-weekly newspaper, in addition to a daily-updated website, an additional monthly Spanish-language newspaper and website, and an annual statewide Catholic Directory. The Managing Editor is responsible for everything that is printed in the newspapers and put up on the websites and social media portals. The message is guided by the Archbishop and his key staff. The purpose is to provide important and interesting information to readers covering events and topics that are relevant in the local, regional, and national church. Managing Editor will have oversight of all news stories, advertisements, photographs, editorials and opinion pieces; ensuring that they are professional, objective, balanced and thought-provoking.
The Catholic Sentinel is the oldest Catholic newspaper on the West Coast. Established in 1870, it has long played a vital and bolstering role for the Catholic community.
The Catholic Sentinel is published twice monthly by Oregon Catholic Press, and is the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Portland.
